Even if the manager was confused, his kitchen staff should have known better: Celiac 101, don't serve people with Celiac disease wheat, barley, or rye. I don't think this was an intentional mistake, but it betrays a gross level of ignorance and incompetence. I told him that we were leaving and he let us go without paying. I did my best to remain calm and tell him that they needed to stop serving this as a "gluten free" option, but he kept insisting they had done no wrong. The waitress was very apologetic but the manager got incredibly defensive, claiming the mix was labeled gluten free when it wasn't (I know he showed me the packaging with barley as the second ingredient). She ended up serving me a blended rice with barley, which I thought was something else until it was too late. Thank you so much, Liz and Ivan, for sharing the love you have for one another with me on your wedding day.Glutened HARD! I even called in advance to make sure they could accommodate me and told the waitress I had Celiac disease. I think the rain made that moment just that much more special. The winds were picking up and the clouds were rolling in as the ceremony went on….Īnd then with perfect timing….like out of a movie perfect timing……the officiant said “You may now kiss your bride” right at the moment when the rain came pouring down. Bushels of crabs, Old Bay, Ravens jerseys…. I was just so excited over how Maryland and Inner Harbor this wedding was. Off to the Rusty Scupper! This is such a cute idea to use for table numbers! I told you, I’m just so in love with the pictures from this wedding. I can’t even talk about these next two pictures. Liz, I hope you love these because I don’t think anyone could look more gorgeous. This smile popped onto his face and he said “Ok, now I’m nervous”. Ivan saw my smile and asked if she was outside now and I said yes. Then Liz came outside and stopped to have her dress adjusted. He was saying that he wasn’t nervous and his face was very serious. I was chatting with Ivan here while we were waiting for Liz to come outside. Now meet Ivan….with his bride ready to come up behind him. Her eyes are the same color as her earrings. The threat of rain made it a little chaotic but ended up, I think, working out perfectly….which you’ll see why in just a little bit □ Then their wedding took place at the Rusty Scupper overlooking the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. I’m seriously in love with the pictures from those places. I’ve always wanted to go to AVAM for pictures so thank you to Liz and Ivan for making that come true for me! And honestly, the trips to Fed Hill and AVAM gave me some of my most favorite pictures ever. Then, it was off to Federal Hill and the American Visionary Arts Museum for some fun picture time. Liz and Ivan, much to my delight, decided they would do a first look after getting ready at the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Hotel. What a handsome guy you snagged for yourself, Liz! I don’t know Ivan very well, but from being around him on their wedding day, I’m so glad that Liz found what seems to be an incredibly friendly, welcoming, and supposedly very smart guy! And, single ladies, you should be jealous of this girl and ashamed that you didn’t find Ivan before she did. It’s such a blessing that I’m so thankful for.Īnyway, like I said, Liz is a sweetheart and looked so incredibly gorgeous on her wedding day. We’ve basically been strangers for 10 years but, because of this path that I’ve chosen to take in being a photographer, I then got to share in one of the most important and meaningful days in Liz’s life. Until one day a while ago I got an inquiry from Liz asking about photographing her wedding and it made me so incredibly happy. It’s amazing how, because of volleyball, we would spend many hours every week together but then, after I graduated, we went over 10 years without seeing or speaking with each other. The oh so beautiful and super sweet Liz and I went to the same high school and played volleyball together for a couple years. One thing I’ve come to love about being a photographer is how it re-connects me with people I knew way back when.
